Our Hand Selected Team

At Camp Southwoods, we understand that parents have to trust their most prized possessions to the care of strangers (until we become family). We understand that we have an awesome responsibility to ensure our campers are safe–both physically and emotionally.

Our staff are hand-picked from all over the world, and go through a vigorous interview process and then a full background check. Before our 10-day full staff Orientation begins, many staff members (Life Guards, Boat Drivers, Swim Instructors, Outdoor Adventure Instructors, Leadership Team) are trained and certified in various safety procedures throughout our camp.

During full staff Orientation, our medical team teaches about the various medications that some of our campers may need and how to help administer them (EpiPen’s and inhalers are examples). Our Leadership Team provide sessions on bullying, home sickness, how to run a fun activity, and how to make future best friends. We also discuss in great detail our philosophy and programming. In every single workshop, we incorporate our Camp Southwoods 5 core values: Family; Teamwork; Kindness; Confidence; and Fun.

Our primary goal is to always be building Family.
