Our mission at Southwoods is to foster an environment of inclusivity with and for our campers. We believe that acts of bravery, no matter the size, are important; that each child should be known and celebrated for their authentic selves; and that through active listening, empathy, and embracing the adventure all around us, we can give our campers a safe place to explore, express, and grow. From the 3 C’s to Huddle Up and everything in between, we can give our campers a community they’ll care for year after year, generation after generation.
It’s one thing to talk about your mission, it’s another to live it.
The Southwood’s Way is the unspoken way we show through our actions our commitment to our mission. An act of kindness, being a good listener, celebrating a triumph, coaching a difficult situation, these are all ways we emulate the Southwood’s Way to our campers. In return, it becomes important to them too.
Every day we take opportunities to acknowledge our campers for following the Southwood’s Way, showing them that while activities are fun, some things are just more important.
